By JD

Head Coach Ryan Kravetz U18AA Team ran their Skateway record to 5-0 this weekend as they took two from the Florida Jr Panthers on Home Ice.

Joel Stachura had both wins between the pipes and Jordan Morales had a 7 point day as The Racers came out on top in both highly energized games winning the early session 4-2 and the nightcap 5-4.

In the first game, David Sader opened the scoring and getting the Racers off to a rolling start. The Racers added two Power Play goals in the first by Morales and Johnny Rowell to take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. Caleb Toone added a 3rd period goal to seal the victory 4-2.

The second game was statistically dominated by the Racers but the game played out much closer. The Racers outshot the Panthers 48-20, and notably Caleb Toone was 18 and 4 on his face-offs, but as often happens, the game still came down to a solid defensive stand and Penalty Kill by the Racers late in the 3rd.

Ryan Tito had the opener in this game from Toone, while Morales and Rowell also added 1st period goals. The lone 2nd period goal was a terrific top shelf goal by Chance Bambrick off a perfect feed from Morales to put the Racers up 4-2. The Panthers fought back to tie the game at 4 before Jordan Morales would fittingly top off his day and add the game winner in the third from Ryan Tito with 5:10 remaining.

The Racers hope to carry their Home Ice momentum into the three Daytona Skateway games on the weekend of Dec 12th and 13th. Click schedule for details we hope to see you there.

The 3rd goal of the game was also assisted by Michael McQuade.

With a 3-2 Racers lead with 5:00 left in the game and the Panthers on a Power Play, Matt Ernst intercepted a Panthers pass in the Racers zone and alertly hit a breaking Ryan Tito who netted the Short Handed Goal and secured the victory.

As the Racers lead in the 3rd period. The Racers Defenseman, Brandon Kleyman, Hunter Campbell, Chance Bambrick, Jason Dowden, McQuade and Ernst held stern allowing only 4 Panthers shot in the final period all which were kicked aside by Padykula to secure the Racers victory.
